Angel of the North Metal Keyring. High quality metal keyring in a black gift box. Lovely Gateshead souvenir to keep and use, or to give as a reminder of the Angel of the North
This photograph, was taken on a bright, colourful summers afternoon. The statue of the Angel is surrounded on both sides by tree branches. The branches are catching the afternoon light and provide a warm colour contrast against the bright blue of the sky and the large white cloud behind Antony Gormley’s creation. The Angel of the North, has quickly become an iconic image of the North East and is recognised all over the world.
The Angel of the North, is located beside the A1, Western bypass has quickly become an iconic image of the North East and is recognised all over the world. It is the most viewed piece of art in the country. The Angel sculpture is situated on a former coal mine in Gateshead and was created to celebrate the North East’s industrial heritage, from coal mining, ship building and this was where the railways were born. The North East coast was also a major centre for the production of glass products. This industry is long gone but there is a Glass Museum located on the banks of the River Wear at Sunderland. Sea glass can still be found on the beaches along the North East coast and collectors come from all over the world to collect this glass.
The Angel was constructed in Hartlepool, it was rusted and then sealed to prevent further ageing and rusting. This process is what has created the copper colour and what some locals now refer to as old rusty.
Angel of the North Metal Keyring, the Keyring measures 74x28mm, including the ring.
