Angel of the North Photographic Print. Photograph of the Angel of the North. This photograph, was taken on a bright, colourful summers afternoon. The statue of the Angel is surrounded on both sides by tree branches. The tree branches and the wings of the Angel, are catching the afternoon light and provide a warm colour contrast against the bright blue of the sky and the large white cloud behind Antony Gormley’s creation. The Angel of the North, has quickly become an iconic image of the North East and is recognised all over the world.

The Angel of the North, located beside the A1, Western bypass has quickly become an iconic image of the North East and is recognised all over the world. This has become an iconic part of the North East. The statue is seen by a motorist every second and is the most viewed piece of public artwork in the country. The Angel of the North is located on the former site of a coal mine in Gateshead. It was constructed to celebrate the North East’s industrial heritage from coal mining, ship building and the birth of the railways and the transformation into the information and technology age. The Angel was constructed in Hartlepool, it was rusted and then sealed to prevent further ageing and rusting. This process is what has created the copper colour and what some locals now refer to as old rusty.

Angel of the North Photographic Print, is printed on heavy weight 240gsm matte paper, which cuts down on reflections. Prints are made on an Epson P9000 printer with 11 inks, these give fantastic depth of colour and neutral and punchy black and white prints.

Please note this picture is supplied mounted, not framed. The print comes a white mount. Each mounted print is packed with a backing card and comes in a cello bag, to keep it clean. Each mount is titled and signed by the photographer.
