Durham Christmas Card Frozen River Wear B&W. Free UK shipping. An A5 size Christmas card, with a winter photograph of Durham Cathedral and the Riverbanks, frozen and the River Wear covered in snow. Durham Cathedral towering above the trees along the left side of the River Wear. This photograph was taken from Framwellgate Bridge, looking along the snow covered footpath of the Durham riverbanks. Taking in the scene of the River Wear frozen over and covered in snow. The ice and snow extends right along the river, all the way to the Fulling Mill, the university boat house and the wear, in front of Prebends Bridge. A couple are walking along the snow covered footpath from the ‘Pink House’ on the banks of the river. They are heading towards Framwellgate Bridge. This photograph has a cool, winter tone throughout the picture. This photograph was taken early morning, there is a grey sky at the top of the photograph, with brighter light, below this cloud, right down to the far tree line. I always enjoy photographing from this viewpoint as it offers a pleasing composition, taking in Durham Cathedral, the riverbanks and the River Wear. Prebends Bridge and the Fulling Mill can be seen in the far distance. It was very unusual to see the river covered in ice and snow, coming back the next day, all of the snow on the river had disappeared.
