Description
Greeting Card Angel & Quayside. An A5 Greeting card, abstract watercolour painting featuring the iconic bridges and buildings of Newcastle and Gateshead. Featured elements include the Sage Gateshead, The Glasshouse, Tyne Bridge, Gateshead Millennium Bridge and Newcastleโs Castle Keep. The ‘Splash’ elements in the sky seam to radiate upwards from the Angel of the North, this addโs a large lighter and brighter colour element to this painting and contrasts against the darker and bolder colours of the buildings.
Red, yellow and green are the prominent colours in this bold and colourful abstract montage painting. This watercolour painting is by local, North East Artist Louisa E.Taylorย and is part of her โSplash of Toonโ range of paintings. Each painting features a unique arrangement and selection of buildings, bridges and landmarks from the Newcastle Gateshead skyline. After deciding on the arrangement of elements, each watercolour painting is created with a completely different colour pallet. The colours that work for one arrangement, so often, just donโt work for a different one. This is often down to the way the buildings and bridges are arranged for the painting. It does make each painting unique and it also makes the whole range of paintings varied and suited to be hung on a wide variety of different colour painted walls.
This colourful and striking painting of Newcastle features bold, bright and punchy magentas, yellows and oranges. The inclusion of the sun and the light watercolour wash, used on the sky help to soften this painting. This piece of artwork is in contrast to some of her other work which is sometimes softer in colour tones.
