Sunset at St Marys Lighthouse. Photograph of the lighthouse at Whitley Bay. Located on St. Mary’s Island, this photograph shows the lighthouse reflected in the approach causeway to the island as the tide is starting to submerge it. The clouds behind the lighthouse have lovely evening colours from the setting sun, these are reflected in the water surrounding the island. Including the causeway to the lighthouse, provides the viewer a lead-through into the main part of the photograph, which is the lighthouse and it’s reflection. The viewer can then explore the lovely colours and clouds in the sky and then the reflections of the sky in the water surrounding the lighthouse. This photograph was taken with a Lee Filters, 3 stop filter, this was used to increase the length of exposure. This helps to soften the water and improve the reflection of the Lighthouse in the water coming in over the causeway. The filter also gives some movement to the clouds in the sky.

St. Mary’s lighthouse has been restored and now has a visitor centre and shop, cafe and you can climb the 137 steps to the top of the lighthouse for a fantastic view of the North East coastline.

Sunset at St Marys Lighthouse, the photograph is printed on heavy weight 240gsm matte paper, which cuts down on reflections. Prints are made on an Epson P9000 printer with 11 inks, these give fantastic depth of colour and neutral and punchy black and white prints.

The print is supplied mounted, not framed. The print comes in a white mount, ready for framing. It is packed with a strong backing card and is cello bagged to keep it clean. The mount is titled and signed by the photographer.
