The Tyne Panoramic Fridge Magnet

The Tyne Panoramic Fridge Magnet. Newcastle plastic fridge magnet with photographic print inside. This magnet has a moody black and white photograph looking along the Newcastle Gateshead Quayside, at the iconic buildings and bridges crossing the River Tyne. In this photograph you can see the Tyne Bridge, the Sage Gateshead music and concert venue, the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, and the Gateshead Millennium Bridge. This black and white, stitch panoramic photograph was taken standing right in front of the Swing Bridge, the Guildhall building is visible on the left side of the photograph. The viewers eye then travels to the towers and span of the Tyne Bridge, with the buildings of the Gateshead side of the quayside behind. you then up at the Hilton, Gateshead hotel on the far right side of the photograph.

This photograph was taken back in 2016. This was before the area underneath Tyne Bridge was developed for the Great Exhibition of the North. There is now a bar and restaurant, developed out of old shipping containers, with an outdoor seating area and play area. There is also a couple of independent shops there also. This area is where the boat, the Tuxedo Princess and then the Tuxedo Royale, floating night club was situated back in the 1980’s, 90’s and early 2000’s. The Tuxedo Royale is now at Middlesbrough. The Tuxedo Princess or the “Boat” as it was referred to by the locals was famous revolving dancefloor on board. When it opened in 1983, it had a strict dress code.

The Tyne Panoramic Fridge Magnet, the size of the magnet is 145x50mm. The magnet is made from shatterproof plastic, here in the UK. The Magnet has a pullout stand which clips into a slot in the back, so that it can stand up. Text on the panoramic magnet reads ‘Newcastle’
