Cherry Tree Durham Cathedral. Mounted photographic print, with a March, springtime photograph of Durham Castle and Cathedral, taken from Wharton Park. The late evening light, provide a warm pink colour to Durham Castle and Cathedral. This is complimented in the large pink and white cherry tree blossom, from the Cherry Tree below Durham Castle.

This is my favourite location in Durham, to photograph the Cathedral. Seeing the warm pink light from the setting sun, I knew this would provide a great photograph of the Castle and Cathedral. Seeing the cherry tree at Wharton Park in full blossom, brightens up what could have turned out to be a dark and dull part of the photograph. It is always amazing going back to a popular location, at a different time of year, that the view and conditions can be completely different. A short telephoto lens has been used for this photograph, so as to include Durham Castle as well as the Cathedral. The sky in this picture is quite plain, with just a hint of colour and tone, this contrasts well with the Cathedral and the cherry tree below. A busy sky would have been a distraction to all of the other elements that comprise this beautiful photograph.

Cherry Tree Durham Cathedral, this photograph is printed on heavy weight 240gsm matte paper, which cuts down on reflections. Prints are made on an Epson P9000 printer with 11 inks, these give fantastic depth of colour and neutral and punchy black and white prints.

The print is supplied mounted, not framed. The print comes in a white mount, ready for framing. It is packed with a strong backing card and is cello bagged to keep it clean. The mount is titled and signed by the photographer.
