Durham Cathedral Autumn Colours Mounted Print. Mounted print, with a close up photograph of Durham Cathedral, taken from Wharton Park. The Autumnal colours of the tree leaves surrounding the Cathedral are lit up by the late afternoon sunlight. This provides a really bright, colourful base to this photograph. Part of Durham Castle is visible on the lefthand side of this photograph. This photograph of Durham Cathedral was taken in early November, late in the afternoon when the sun was starting to set. This warm sunlight has brought out the autumnal colours of the tree leaves enclosing the Cathedral and Castle. From this angel the afternoon sunlight strikes the back of the Cathedral and the main Cathedral towers and Galliee Chapel. The sunlight gives a warmth to the stonework, while the rest of the building has strong deep shadows. This is my favourite viewpoint to photograph Durham Cathedral, this close-up photograph was taken with a telephoto lens, to get in close. Using this type of lens, compresses the photograph so that the hills behind the Cathedral appear closer than they really are. A bright sky with banks of white clouds are passing behind the Cathedral’s Bell Tower. This helps to make the tower really standout.

Durham Cathedral Autumn Colours Mounted Print, this photograph is printed on heavy weight 240gsm matte paper, which cuts down on reflections. Prints are made on an Epson P9000 printer with 11 inks, these give fantastic depth of colour and neutral and punchy black and white prints.
