Christmas Card Frozen Wear Durham . An A5 size Christmas card, with a winter photograph of the Durham Riverbanks, a frozen and snow covered River Wear. With Durham Cathedral towering above the trees along the side of the river. This photograph was taken close to Framwellgate Bridge, looking along the snow covered footpath of the Durham riverbanks. Taking in the scene of the River Wear frozen over and covered in snow. A fallen tree branch has been captured in the ice. The ice and snow extends right along the river, all the way to the Fulling Mill, the university boat house and the wear, in front of Prebends Bridge. A couple are walking along the snow covered footpath from the ‘Pink House’ on the banks of the river. They are heading towards Framwellgate Bridge. This photograph has a cool blue, winter tone throughout the picture. This photograph was taken early morning, the sun is trying to brake through the clouds and give some light and warmth to this cold looking winter scene. I always enjoy photographing from this viewpoint as it offers a pleasing composition, taking in Durham Cathedral, the riverbanks and the River Wear. Prebends Bridge and the Fulling Mill can be seen in the far distance.
