Metal Wall Sign Northumberland. The Original Metal Wall Sign Co, Northumberland sign. Metal Wall Sign from an original British Railways travel poster produced in the 1950’s. These posters were produced to promote railway holiday travel to our coastal areas. This attractive poster shows the Northumberland coast, with Seahouses harbour and some fishing boats returning home with full lobster pots. A couple of children are paddling in the sea. Behind the harbour, along the dunes we can see Holy Island and Lindisfarne Castle. The North Sea is painted a beautiful deep blue colour. The sky is a light, bright blue, with fluffy white clouds. The sand on the beaches is golden and bright yellow. This railway travel poster was produced by British Railways. It follows in the long running tradition, started by both the L.N.E.R. and LMS railway companies promoting popular holiday destinations that were now reachable by the arrival of the railways. As it says on the poster, ‘See Britain by Train’.

This attractive travel poster, to get people to visit and holiday along the North East coast was painted by J. G. Pullerton. The metal sign is using a reproduction of an original poster and there may be a few faults and marks, reproduced from the original poster.
