Mounted Print Durham Colours. A watercolour painted ‘Splash’ picture of the Durham City skyline. With Durham Castle and the Cathedral as the main elements in this painting by local North East artist Louisa E. Taylor. This colourful and striking painting of Durham features bright and punchy magentas, yellows and greens. This is in contrast to some of her other work which is sometimes softer in colour tones. The buildings of the Durham skyline are painted with a darker, more solid paint. The choice of paints used provide a very pleasing contrast to the buildings. The ‘Splash’ colours complement these bold colours but they taper out from the centre as they flow down to the bottom of the painting. The sky area has just enough ‘Splash’ effect, emanating upwards from the buildings. The amount of coloured areas increases towards the top of the painting. This piece of watercolour art is quite bold and is best seen as a large mounted paint. This is perfect to frame and hang on a nice big wall.
