Lovely yellows and browns the warm colours of dawn in the sky are reflected in the River Tyne in this striking photograph of the Newcastle Gateshead Quayside. All of the key buildings are shown, including the Tyne Bridge, the Sage Gateshead music centre, the Baltic Arts Centre and the Gateshead Millennium Bridge. This is a classic viewpoint to photograph Tyne Bridge and the new buildings and bridges of the quayside, standing beside the Guildhall. Tyne Bridge takes centre stage and is used to fill the top half of the photograph, with that lovely soft golden coloured sky behind the bridge and then reflected in the water below. Two Lee Filters were used in taking this photograph, a 3 stop grey grad to keep the bright detail in the sky from the sunrise and the 10 stop (Big Stopper) filter. This filter increases the length of exposure time required. This effect results in the soft water and more movement in the sky effect, that can be seen in this photograph. By softening the water of the River Tyne, a clearer reflection from the buildings on the Gateshead side of the quayside is created in the water.
