with a summertime photograph of Durham Castle and Cathedral, taken from Wharton Park. The bright evening summertime light, provides a warm yellow colour to Durham Castle and the Cathedral. This is contrasted against the darker greens of the trees that provide the base to this photograph. This my favourite viewpoint to photograph the Cathedral and Castle. There is a wide array of views from this location, which has undergone a major renovation of it’s facilities. Different times of the year provide different colours from spring, when the cherry trees are in bloom, to autumn, when the leaves are turning and have fantastic colours. Afternoon and evening are the best times of day, for the sunlight at Wharton Park, to photograph the Cathedral and Castle as the sun is at the perfect angle to illuminate this side of the buildings and the trees surrounding them.
