Durham Cathedral and Riverbanks Mug. 10oz white ‘Durham’ style, photo printed mug. This mug is printed with a panoramic photograph of the riverbanks beside the River Wear. Durham Cathedral stands majestically above the trees. Below the towers of Durham Cathedral, is located the Fulling Mill Museum, beside the wear, just poking through the trees. Nice bright summertime photograph of this iconic view, taken standing beside the ‘Pink House’ beside the wear. This summers day has a bright blue sky and attractive big white fluffy clouds passing behind the towers of the Cathedral. This bright sky, helps to make the towers of the Cathedral, really stand out against the sky. The sunlight is catching the front and sides of the towers of Durham Cathedral and the tops of the trees along the banks of the River Wear. This stops the green tree leaves looking too dark and heavy in the middle of this photograph. Around mid day this the best time of day to take the Cathedral and riverbanks from this viewpoint, otherwise the sun is not high enough to light up the trees along riverbanks.
A standard lens has been used for this photograph. This focuses in on the riverbanks and Durham Cathedral. The wear is more prominent in this photograph, with the water flowing over it. It can be seen on the righthand side of this photograph. It takes the viewer through the bottom third of the picture, straight to the Fulling Mill Museum and then up to the towers of the Cathedral, which dominate the skyline of the city. This is probably the most ‘classic’ viewpoint to photograph the Cathedral and to include the riverbanks as well.
