St Mary’s Lighthouse Card

St Mary’s Lighthouse Card. This is an A5 size greeting card. Sunset at St. Mary’s Lighthouse, photograph of the lighthouse at Whitley Bay. Located on St. Mary’s Island, this photograph shows the lighthouse reflected in the approach causeway to the island as the tide is starting to submerge it. The clouds behind the lighthouse have lovely evening colours from the setting sun, these are reflected in the water surrounding the island. Including the causeway to the lighthouse, provides the viewer a lead-through into the main part of the photograph, which is the lighthouse and it’s reflection. The viewer can then explore the lovely colours and clouds in the sky and then the reflections of the sky in the water surrounding the lighthouse. This photograph was taken with a Lee Filters, 3 stop neutral density filter, this was used to increase the length of exposure. Using this filter increased the exposure to about 90 seconds, it is much easier to use this filter, than the small or big stopper. This helps to soften the water and improve the reflection of the Lighthouse in the water coming in over the causeway. The filter also gives some movement to the clouds in the sky.

St. Mary’s lighthouse has been restored and now has a visitor centre and shop, cafe and you can climb the 137 steps to the top of the lighthouse for a fantastic view of the North East coastline.

St Mary’s Lighthouse Card, comes in a clear cello bag, with a white envelope. The size of the greeting card is 210x148mm. The card is left Blank Inside for your own message. Text on the front of the greeting card reads ‘ST. MARY’S’
