Fridge Magnet Flying Scotsman. Plastic fridge magnet with a photograph of the world famous ‘Flying Scotsman’ steam locomotive. This locomotive was named after The Flying Scotsman, train service which was LNER’s express, non-stop service operating between London Kings Cross and Edinburgh station. The locomotive was the first to be recorded at reaching 100mph in 1934. Flying Scotsman, then set a record for the longest non-stop run by a steam locomotive when it ran 422 miles (679 km) on 8 August 1989 while in Australia on tour.

Flying Scotsman started operating with the LNER as an A1 class pacific locomotive, designed by Sir Nigel Gresley in 1923. It was later rebuilt as an updated A3 class design in 1947. It first carried the number 4472, then when British Railways were formed, it was re-numbered 10603, in 1948. It is this number and the British Railways green paint work that is shown in this photograph. This photograph was taken at Grosmont Station on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway back in 2016. Flying Scotsman is getting ready to haul a train service heading to Pickering Station and back. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway was the first preserved railway to operate the engine after its 10 year restoration project was complete. We were lucky to have booked seats on the earlier train hauled by Flying Scotsman. People lined all of the station platforms, bridges and vantage points along the railway line, all wanting to get a glimpse of the worlds most famous steam locomotive. Flying Scotsman is shown here in this photograph in its British Railways dark green paintwork and carrying the number 60103.

We have a wide selection of different photographs and products of the Flying Scotsman and other steam locomotives, as well as the new Azuma trains.

Fridge Magnet photograph size is 70 x 45mm. These is a small stand inside the back of the magnet, this is to alloy the magnet to stand up, rather than be stuck on the fridge door. All of our plastic gift products are manufactured here in the United Kingdom.
