Durham Autumn Riverbanks Card. A5 greeting card, with a photograph of Durham Cathedral and the riverbanks, taken in autumn just passed Framwellgate Bridge while walking towards the ‘Pink House’ and Prebends Bridge. This photograph was taken mid morning. The sun is still rising above the trees and can be seen poking through the branches on the far righthand side of the photograph. The leaves of the trees running along the riverbanks are changing colour, from their lush green summer foliage to the warmer and brighter oranges, reds and yellows of autumn. The towers of Durham Cathedral dominate the skyline in this photograph with a bright blue sky and just a hint of white clouds to the right side of the picture.
The autumn coloured trees, the Cathedral and the lovely blue sky are reflected in the flowing waters of the River Wear. This is a great reflection and is only broken up by the ripples of the flowing water. This photograph has a natural left to right flow to it, thanks to the reflection and the angle of the riverbank side filling in the bottom right corner of the photograph. This part is in shadow. This focuses the viewer straight to the bright part of the photograph, with the warm autumn colours and Durham Cathedral. The sunlight is bringing out the autumn colours of the trees on the far side of the picture especially the dominate coppery brown tree in the centre of the photograph, to the right side of the tree is the Fulling Mill Museum and tucked away in shadow in the distance is Prebends Bridge.
